The Urban Botanist is supporting One Tree Planted.
One Tree Planted is a non-profit organization with the goal of reforestation around the world. By planting trees, it is hoped that critical watersheds will be restored, wildlife habitats will be maintained and that climate change and global warming will be combatted.
Through $1 donations, One Tree Planted will plant a tree and monitor its environmental impact as it grows.
What You Are Protecting
Yes we are Canadian, but we have decided to focus our efforts within regenerative agriculture towards parts of the world that are in dire need of trees being planted.
Some of the globe's most important tropical forests can be found in Latin America. Despite this, the Amazon, Andes, and Atlantic forests face extreme deforestation as massive tracts are leveled for agriculture, livestock grazing, and timber. One Tree Planted's projects in Latin America are rebuilding forests and restoring land so the benefits of healthy tropical forests can be felt around the world.
Our partners work with communities impacted by deforestation so they benefit from improved forest management practices and agricultural techniques like agroforestry. This also ensures the trees and land are taken care of for generations to come, and the forests can continue to thrive.
To maximize the impact of your donation, we'll determine the most appropriate local native tree species to plant with the recommendations of our local on-the-ground partners, and based on the unique ecological or social objectives of the reforestation project. Biodiversity is at the core of any restoration initiative in this region.
